There are pieces that whisper to the heart… This Saint Anthony, carved and polychromed wood, standing 79 cm tall, is one of those gentle voices that reach us with sweetness and light. The Franciscan habit falls in deep pleats, the hood frames noble shoulders, the rope cincture marks humility, and the bare feet remind us of the Walk of Faith. The face, with its tender, contemplative gaze, carries that luminous melancholy so typical of fine devotional sculpture — the “soul” that only a skilled carver can give. 🌟

I love the honest patina of this piece: the old polychromy, the touches of wear on the hands, the subtly rosy complexion, and that serenity which, even in silence, fills the room. The open arms form a welcoming gesture — we can almost hear the prayer. It’s a work with sculptural presence and human tenderness, perfect for a home oratory, for a room with memory, or for a collector who values authenticity and spirituality. 🕯️

Probably Portuguese work from the 19th century (with a late-18th-century flavor), this Saint Anthony gathers what I look for when I choose pieces for Batalha Collection: sculptural quality, expression, patina, and truth. It’s ready to inhabit a new home — to continue protecting, inspiring, and moving us. Seen in person, you understand: it’s not just an object, it’s an encounter. 💫
