Batalha Collection is the result of a meticulous and ongoing search for unique pieces, carefully selected in Portugal and abroad.
Our collection brings together antiques, art and design, spanning centuries and styles to create a fascinating dialogue between the past and the present.
The Batalha Collection was born in Faro, in the Algarve, out of a longstanding passion for art, antiques and design. The collection is built through a continuous and discerning search in Portugal and abroad, bringing together pieces from different periods, origins and aesthetic traditions, selected for their authenticity, quality, history and character.
Antiques, art, design and vintage pieces coexist without rigid boundaries in a deliberately eclectic selection. From historical pieces and furniture dating back centuries to 20th-century art and design, each object is individually chosen for what makes it unique: its quality, history, provenance, craftsmanship or simply its ability to transform the space in which it is placed.
Over the years, pieces from the Batalha Collection have found their way into numerous homes and interior design projects, as well as important private collections. Its clients include renowned collectors, art and interior design professionals, and museum institutions, reflecting a relationship of trust built on the quality, authenticity and uniqueness of the selection. More than simply selling objects, the Batalha Collection seeks to find the right place for each piece. Because a truly special piece does not end its story when it changes hands: it begins a new chapter, in a home, a collection, an interior design project or an institution where it can continue to be appreciated, admired and preserved.
The Founder
Hugo Batalha, art and antiques collector, contemporary artist and founder of the Batalha Collection, grew up surrounded by art, antiques and objects with a story to tell, in a family that has always been closely connected to this world. This early exposure shaped his eye and developed a particular sensitivity to the authenticity, quality, aesthetics and character of each piece.
With a university degree and postgraduate qualifications in management, he built a career spanning around 30 years as a manager in multinational companies and leading Portuguese business groups. This experience gave him a strategic and business-oriented perspective that he would later apply to a world that had always been part of his identity: collecting, art and antiques.
Around seven years ago, he decided to turn this lifelong connection into his own venture and founded the Batalha Collection in Faro, in the Algarve. More than a traditional antiques shop, he created a space where antiques, art, vintage pieces and design come together in a personal selection shaped by each object’s history, quality, uniqueness and ability to transform a space.
As both a collector and an artist, Hugo Batalha brings together knowledge, aesthetic sensibility and experience in the selection of each piece. The Batalha Collection reflects this vision: a meeting point between art, history and design, created for those seeking objects with identity, presence and timeless value.
