This work, created by me, Batalha, acrylic on canvas, comes from my fascination with portraiture when it stops being an βimageβ and becomes emotional architecture. Here, the face isnβt simply painted: itβs built in a Cubist way, with intersecting planes that overlap, break and restart β as if each fragment held a memory, a hesitation, a secret. The strong black outline holds everything together like a structure, and inside it, colour finds its own voice.
The incandescent oranges cut through deep blues and living greens in a clash that feels essential to me: the tension between strength and delicacy, between presence and retreat. And then thereβs the gazeβ¦ a gaze that doesnβt ask permission β it stays with us, follows us, makes us stop. Itβs a painting you feel from afar, but discover up close, layer by layer, like a confession.
Available at Batalha Collection. If youβd like to see it in person (or receive a detailed video), just tell me. πΌοΈβ¨
