Some objects feel as if they were made for a toast β and this Pokal has exactly that aura of ceremony and triumph. A tall, sculptural covered cup, with lobed, pumpkin-like volumes that echo Baroque armour: light runs across the silver, creating shifting shadows and highlights, as if the piece were always in motion.
The details are irresistible: the finial on top like a small bouquet, the lid with a crown-like presence, and on the stem a figure β almost a guardian β supporting the whole architecture with both grace and strength. You can feel the hand of a true master here: tradition and flair, perfectly balanced.
Made in Nuremberg, in 1967, by the master Christoph Schell, itβs a modern homage to great German silversmithing β a piece that respects centuries of form and symbolism, yet arrives to us with a timeless, contemporary charm.
