I asked myself: βWhat if the Girl with a Pearl Earring had been painted by a cubistβ¦ and lived today in my gallery in Faro?β From that question this piece was born, made of broken planes, warm colours and a gaze that hides between triangles.
Each fragment is a piece of light, skin and silence. A contemporary homage to Vermeer, with the freedom to deconstruct the figure and rebuild it like a modern stained glass, where gold meets deep blues and earthy browns.
This work now lives at Batalha Collection, among antiques, design and contemporary art. If you come to Faro, step in, feel the energy of this cubist βgirlβ in personβ¦ and stay for a conversation about art, history and collecting.
